deployment two, almost brand new!

So Dexter has left again, the military claiming him for two more weeks.  Only now he won't be able to come home until Annual Training is over.  The separation of AT doesn't upset me really-- We've survived a 10 month deployment to Iraq and he was gone 3 months before deployment and two months after, so it was 15 months altogether.  So two weeks-- I mean what is two weeks??  Really its 4 weeks altogether, but he got to go home this past weekend and the weekend prior, so its different.

So what is the point of this entry?  I suppose its because I am seeing this AT as the "start" of the "countdown to when Dexter leaves" Because soon after this he WILL leave for deployment number two.  Part of me feels like I haven't, WE haven't, been through a deployment before.  Part of this is because last deployment was in the year 2004.  That deployment his unit went to the different FOBS in Iraq and built them up.  They slept in tents.  Skype didn't exist.  If you wanted to IM your soldier, you had to use Yahoo instant messaging, and he had to wait in line to use the phones and the computers.  This time they'll be on a built base (don't want to give away where) and they'll be sleeping in actual BEDS!!!!!!!!  It'll be SO different in a countless number of ways, so that is why I say it'll be like a brand new deployment.
